Overview
A structural inspection is a licensed Professional Engineer's on-site assessment of a building's structural condition, identifying defects, distress, safety concerns, and needed repairs. In Connecticut, our structural and foundation inspections serve homeowners, buyers, sellers, real estate agents, attorneys, insurance adjusters, and property managers. We evaluate foundations, framing, load-bearing walls, retaining walls, decks, and other structural elements for signs of settlement, cracking, water damage, deterioration, and code compliance. Every inspection concludes with a stamped, sealed engineering report documenting our findings, conclusions, and recommendations—accepted by building departments, lenders, courts, and insurance carriers throughout Connecticut.

When to Call
Schedule a structural inspection when: you're buying or selling a property and need a professional structural assessment; you've discovered foundation cracks, uneven floors, or sticking doors; your basement has water intrusion or bowing walls; a home inspector flagged a structural concern; you're planning a renovation that involves structural changes; you need a letter for a building department or lender; you're filing an insurance claim for structural damage; a storm or tree impact damaged your home; or you're a contractor who encountered unexpected conditions during construction. Most inspections are scheduled within 1–3 business days with reports delivered in 2–5 business days.
Code Compliance
Our inspections evaluate structures against the Connecticut State Building Code (CSBC), including the IRC and IBC. We reference ACI 318 for concrete foundation evaluation, the NDS for wood framing assessment, and ASCE 7 for load verification. Foundation inspections address Connecticut's 42-inch frost depth requirement, proper drainage and waterproofing, and soil bearing capacity. For properties in FEMA flood zones, we also evaluate compliance with flood-resistant construction requirements, including elevated foundations, breakaway walls, and flood-damage-resistant materials below the Base Flood Elevation (BFE).
